Placing Traps

Open /speedtraps, press New, and pick a speed limit. Then set the location in one of these ways:

  • My position: uses where you're standing or parked, including your heading.
  • Place in world: the panel hides and an orange ring follows you. A guide at the bottom of the screen shows the street and your heading. Press E to set the trap, or Backspace to cancel.
  • Pick on map: click the map. The trap goes exactly where you click, and takes the height and street name of that spot. This works anywhere on the map.
  • Drag: while a trap is open in the editor, drag its pin to move it, then press Save. Click another pin to open it first. The map can be a few metres off, so check the trap in game, or use My position or Place in world for an exact spot.

Names

The name fills in from the street when you set the location. If another trap already has that street name, the new one gets #2, then #3, and so on. You can type your own name.

Trigger zone

Every trap uses Config.Detection.Radius (20 m) around its blip. Put the blip in the middle of the road. Anything driving through that spot over the limit gets a ticket.

Turn on One direction only to ticket one side of the road. An arrow on the map pin shows the direction being caught. Click a tier in the map legend to hide or show its traps.

Blips on the pause map

Trap blips show on the minimap only by default (Config.Blips.PauseMap = false). The pause map is left as it is without this script, so other blips can be selected and waypoints go where you click. Set PauseMap = true to show trap blips on the pause map too. GTA's map cursor can then lock onto a trap when you set a waypoint on a road that has one.
